Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Strategy: Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with company goals, focusing on materials like metals, plastics, and precision turnings.
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with new and existing suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and reliable delivery.
- Negotiations: Lead supplier negotiations to achieve competitive pricing and service-level agreements while fostering strategic partnerships.
- Cost Management: Monitor material costs, identify savings opportunities, and implement cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality.
- Inventory Management: Collaborate with inventory control and production teams to manage material forecasts and ensure timely delivery of components.
- Quality Assurance: Partner with internal quality teams to ensure all purchased materials meet company and regulatory standards.
- Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, material availability, and industry developments to bring innovative solutions to the table.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, engineering, and project management teams to meet production schedules and resolve supply chain challenges.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a buyer or procurement professional in the automotive or manufacturing industry.
- Proven expertise in purchasing metals, plastics, turnings, and other manufacturing materials is required.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Exceptional understanding of supply chain processes, material specifications, and procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or equivalent systems).
- Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to negotiate contracts and build partnerships with suppliers.
- Analytical Ability: Proven problem-solving skills with a strong focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal teams.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) are a plus.
