Accounting Manager – Sedalia, MO (On-Site)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team at Inter-State Studio's headquarters in Sedalia, Missouri. This is a high-impact role leading a skilled accounting team within a well-established company. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager will play a key role in financial oversight, compliance, and process improvements across our accounting operations.

What You'll Do:

In this leadership position, you'll oversee the day-to-day accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and inventory. You will manage the monthly close process and ensure timely preparation of accurate financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, and internal reporting. You'll compile and present the monthly financial reporting package for senior management and lead efforts to continuously improve our accounting processes and reporting capabilities.

You'll collaborate on the annual budget and forecasting processes, ensure compliance with tax and regulatory filings (including property tax, business license, and sales tax), and serve as a key point of contact for audits such as 401(k), workers' compensation, and other regulatory reviews. With a strong focus on financial controls and data integrity, you'll analyze financial trends, identify opportunities for efficiency, and provide actionable insights to support company growth.

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of accounting experience in public or corporate environments
• At least 3 years of experience supervising or managing a team
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
• In-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles, GAAP, and regulatory guidelines
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Proven ability to lead a team, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines
• A proactive mindset with the ability to offer recommendations that support growth and profitability
