The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) protects consumers and oversees financial service providers and products. The DFPI supervises the operations of state-licensed financial institutions, including banks, credit unions and money transmitters. Additionally, the DFPI licenses and regulates a variety of financial service providers, including securities brokers and dealers, investment advisers, payday lenders and other consumer finance lenders. Job Description And Duties

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one (1) permanent, full-time Financial Institutions Manager - Examinations Manager position in the Division of Corporations and Financial Institutions, Banking unit. This position is to be located in the San Francisco Office. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies for positions within the next 180 days.

Under the general direction of the Regional Deputy Commissioner of the Banking Division, the Financial Institutions Manager is responsible for supervising a group of Financial Institutions Examiners and overseeing the examination of state chartered banks and foreign banking organizations conducted in accordance with the Department's guidelines, the Uniform Financial Institutions Rating System and the applicable State and Federal laws and regulations.

Applicants will need to take and pass the online Financial Institutions Manager exam/assessment to be eligible to apply for Financial Institutions Manager positions. Please visit:

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: One year of experience in California state service performing professional examination duties of a class at a level of responsibility equivalent to that of a Senior Financial Institutions Examiner or Financial Institutions Supervisor. Or

Experience: Two years of experience in California state service performing professional auditing or examination duties of a class at a level of responsibility equivalent to that of a Financial Institutions Examiner, Range C. Or

Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible professional auditing or examination experience, including three years supervising a staff of accountants, auditors, or examiners. (Experience in California state service applied toward this requirement must include two years performing the duties in a class at a level of responsibility equivalent to that of a Financial Institutions Examiner, Range C.) and

Education: Equivalent to graduation from college with a specialization in accounting, business administration, economics, finance, or a related business/management specialization.
