POSITION: Air Quality Program Manager

SALARY: $39.19, per hour DOE

REPORTS TO: Environmental Trust Director

LOCATION: Environmental Trust;Nespelem, Washington

Basic Functions:EXEMPT. Manages the Air Quality Program within the Office of Environmental Trust and serves as the lead tribal government official with regard to air quality matters. With respect to areas of responsibility this position: Has primary responsibility for project administration and technical assistance for grants and contracts.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

  • RequiresA master's degree involving study in environmental, physical, health, natural sciences or environmental planning or engineering.OR
  • A Bachelor's degree in the above subject areas plus two years experience at or above the Environmentalist level.
  • Requires a valid Washington State Drivers' License and must be eligible for the Tribes' vehicle insurance and maintain throughout employment.
  • Requires applicant to qualify for a US Government Drivers' License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Requires knowledge ofchemistry, physics, mathematics, and biological processes.

  • Requires knowledge of field investigative techniques and data gathering and basic research.

  • Requires knowledge of practices and methods of air pollution problem solving.

  • Requires knowledge of and skill withair sampling methods, techniques, and instruments.

  • Requires knowledge ofcharacteristics of air pollution.

  • Requires knowledge of principles, practices, and methods of environmental science, air pollution prevention and control.

  • Requires knowledge of applicable tribal, state, and federal air pollution laws.

  • Requires ability touse sound judgment in performing assigned tasks.

  • Requires ability to understand and apply environmental regulations and related law.

  • Requires ability towrite clearly and concisely, and prepare maps, plans and charts, and graphs.

  • Requires ability to communicate effectively with tribal staff, other agencies and the public.

  • Requires experience operating an air quality program or program components.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.

TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.

If required of this position, you must possess and maintain avalid Washington State driver's license and be eligible for the Tribes' Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
