Job Purpose
The Test Engineering Manager for Product Verification and Validation is responsible for ensuring that all new products released by the product design team meet all internal and external requirements. This includes all physical testing, both at Dana and at outside vendors, as well as all virtual validation.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure high quality product releases by managing and controlling product testing (both virtual and physical testing).Manage the product testing team consisting of test technicians, test engineers, and virtual validation engineers.Ensure all lab personnel are properly trained in use of all equipment.Support and conduct all prototype product builds.Maintain inventory control of all test equipment, tooling, and prototype parts.Drive continuous improvement within the product test process.Plan assigned projects documenting the scope, constraints, key success factors, budget, tasks, deliverables, roles, and responsibilities.Schedule tasks, assign appropriate resources, and ensure relevant tools are available for team members.Review project progress against the plan and budget, control changes, resolve issues, and manage risks to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.Ensure all test facilities adhere to regulatory and certifying requirements.Oversee field testing at customer sites.Knowledge & Skills Summary:
- 5+ years' experience in ensuring quality and managing a product test team of ten or more members.
- 5+ years utilizing the stage gate development process for product development.
- Hands-on experience introducing and improving best practice product testing procedures within teams.
- Able to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Education and Experience:
- BS in Engineering related fields (ME, EE, AgE, Mechatronics, etc.).
- Experience testing drive components and drive systems in hydrostatic transmissions and electrically driven drivetrains.
- Familiarity with DC, AC induction, IPM motors, and their control systems.
- Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
- Design, function, and testing of multi-stage planetary gearboxes.
- Experience with National Instruments software and programming.
- Experience with nCode Glyphworks software.
- Knowledge of parametric modeling software.
- Ability to read 2D blueprints and schematics, with a general understanding of GD&T.
- Proficiency in MS Office products.
