UIC has over 300,000 alumni, and is one of the largest employers in the city of Chicago.The Department of Psychiatry and UIC Alcohol Research Center is seeking a Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) with an interest in the epigenetic mechanisms underlying alcohol use disorder (AUD). The Department of Psychiatry and Alcohol Research Center brings together scientists and clinicians with expertise across multiple disciplines including neural, epigenetic, genetic and behavioral processes that contribute to the pathophysiology of AUD. UIC is a highly collaborative research environment with a strong neuroscience presence across multiple departments. Training is provided by several interdisciplinary graduate programs including the interdepartmental Graduate Program in Neuroscience (GPN), the Graduate Education in bioMedical Sciences (GEMS) umbrella program, and an NIH-funded Medical Science Training Program (MSTP). The start date is flexible.Job Knowledge & Skills, Education, ExperienceFaculty will be expected to maintain an active competitively funded alcohol research program either as principle or co-investigator focused on the epigenetic and transcriptomic studies in AUD. The individual selected for this position expected to be active member of the UIC Alcohol Research Center and neuroscience research program. Eligible candidates will have a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree in a relevant area of neuroscience or neurobiology with extensive experience in alcohol epigenetic and molecular research. Preference will be given to candidates who can bring epigenetic research to the UIC Alcohol Research Center and has published extensively in epigenome and transcriptomic approaches in AUD.Benefits And CompensationThe previously determined salary range for this position is $70,000.00 to $80,000.00.We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications.   • A PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree in a relevant area of neuroscience or neurobiology with extensive experience in alcohol epigenetic and molecular research.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to generate epigenetic research to the UIC Alcohol Research Center.
  • Previous publishing experience in epigenome and transcriptomic approaches in AUD.
