Job Summary

The Department of Cell Biology at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor (HS). The successful candidate will:

  • Lead a research program in T-cell biology.
  • Build and lead a collaborative, interdisciplinary research team supported by extramural funding, contributing to scholarship and biomedical advancements.
  • Complement existing expertise in B-cell biology, cancer biology, allergy, autoimmunity, rheumatic diseases, and lipid metabolism.
  • Foster collaborations with SUNY Downstate researchers and physicians in various departments and the School of Public Health to enhance competitiveness for large institutional grants.
  • Teach, train, and mentor students in the College of Medicine and MD/PhD students in the School of Graduate Studies MCB Program.
  • Required Qualifications
    • Doctoral Degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent) in immunology, focusing on T-cell effector functions in human disease.
    • Expertise in cell and molecular biology, genetics, genomics, pre-clinical disease models, and clinical/translational research involving human bio-specimens.
    • Existing early-career grant funding (e.g., K99/R00, foundation grants).
    • Strong potential for federal funding, an outstanding record in T-cell research, and a commitment to mentorship.
