Position Summary

The Technical Assistance Business Advisor is responsible for providing business counseling and training programs to individuals, businesses, communities, and other entities in their assigned geographic territory, with a specific focus on financial management, bookkeeping, basic accounting, and capital formation. The Business Advisor will be responsible for managing multiple projects that include sourcing and driving both group and one-on-one client engagements as well as networking and developing relationships with community partners. Multi-county travel may be involved.

  • Excellent analytical skills, with a level of proficiency in the areas of financial management, basic accounting, or lending.

  • Provide individual instruction to entrepreneurs, business owners, business managers, and others on understanding legal issues related to their enterprise, developing the accounting and record-keeping capabilities necessary for running their business, and helping them with the evaluation and pursuit of financing options best suited for growth - including completing applications for State Small Business Credit Initiative ( SSBCI ) related funding.

  • Develop and deliver business-training programs that are responsive to the needs of the business community served.
  • Generate curriculum for business programs, seminars, conferences, etc.
  • Help local field offices determine topics, agendas, instructors, and instructional materials.
  • Serve as an instructor or facilitator for these programs.
  • Evaluate programs' effectiveness and make necessary modifications.
