Job Description

This position requires daily travel within the San Jose area, including the airport.

The Field Service Technician (FST) troubleshoots, services, installs, and repairs Trace, X-Ray, CT X-Ray, and Cargo Inspection equipment at customer sites. Responsibilities include maintaining service logs, exceeding customer expectations, conducting follow-up calls, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • Meet daily service repair needs and foster positive customer relations.
  • Install, repair, and maintain equipment; provide customer training as needed.
  • Respond promptly to emergency and scheduled service calls.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance and document all work accurately.
  • Manage parts inventory and ensure tools and test equipment are calibrated.
  • Maintain technical certifications and review logs for open issues.
  • Participate in service sales opportunities and support revenue programs.
  • Seek knowledge growth and technical support from senior colleagues.
  • Participate in site surveys, pilot programs, and special projects as required.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with product managers and senior FSTs.
  • Control costs and maximize revenue; complete administrative tasks timely.
  • Travel, overtime, and varied work hours may be required.
  • Adhere to health, safety, environmental policies, and export regulations.
  • Qualifications

    Education/Training: Associate's Degree or trade certification in electrical, mechanical, or electronics; military training; or equivalent experience (>3 years in electrical/mechanical field service). Proficiency in MS Office and learning specialized software.

    Experience: Minimum 5 years in troubleshooting and repairing electrical/electronic systems.

    Knowledge/Skills: Excellent communication, customer focus, teamwork, and responsiveness. Willingness to travel on short notice.

    Work Environment

    Work is performed at customer locations such as airports, correctional facilities, and ships, requiring mobility and safety awareness.
