Accounting Manager

We are seeking an Accounting Manager to join our growing team. This role will be hands-on and focused on day-to-day accounting operations, monthly close, and reporting functions. Retail or e-commerce industry experience and a strong understanding of GAAP is essential. The ideal candidate will improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls while building a cohesive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a TPS brand ambassador
  • Manage and lead the accounting team, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and development
  • Oversee daily accounting functions including general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations
  • Own and execute month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Support inventory accounting and cost of goods sold reporting for accuracy and timeliness
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments including merchandising, store ops, and e-commerce to ensure alignment on financial data
  • Maintain and oversee fixed asset schedules and depreciation
  • Prepare for internal and external audits, coordinating directly with auditors and external accountants
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Provide support to the management team on special projects and reporting needs

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience; retail and/or e-commerce experience preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience managing and mentoring a team
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls
  • Proven ability to train, coach, and develop team members
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Great Plains or similar) preferred
  • Ability to work 3+ days/week in our Corporate Office in Acton, MA
  • Professional communication skills and collaborative leadership style
