Position DescriptionPerforms executive, administrative duties concerning various aspects of operational management in support of the Service Plus philosophy and missions of Texas Tech System. Leads Development initiatives for a program or college and independently cultivates, solicits, and steward's donors within the general parameters of overall giving policies and plans.Major/Essential Functions

  • Under the direction of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) El Paso President and in collaboration with Texas Tech University (TTU) System Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement (IA), provide vision and leadership for a comprehensive, integrated, and donor-centric development program that is consistent with the university's priorities and opportunities
  • Act as a resource for deans, fundraisers, and the president on fundraising matters in collaboration with TTU System IA
  • Advance organizational effectiveness and results by (a) providing strategic positioning, direction, and leadership, and (b) building a culture of accountability, measurement, and sustainable improvement
  • Direct short-term and long-term strategic planning for Advancement divisions, consistent with the TTUHSC El Paso strategic plan and organizational goals related to engagement and philanthropy goals
  • Facilitate communication and an open environment of dialogue between development professionals, deans, department chairs, and the IA office
  • Cultivate long-term collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and TTUHSC El Paso to achieve mutual goals
  • Work collaboratively with the TTU System IA system office to provide exceptional service to donors and a culture of teamwork throughout the organization
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the marketing and communication efforts at TTUHSC El Paso to ensure that communication is consistent and coordinated with the university's IA goals and approach to promote excellence
  • Oversee the alumni relations unit at TTUHSC El Paso and enhance alumni relation engagement
  • Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.)
  • Personally, and consistently, demonstrate, display and act in accordance with Texas Tech Health El Paso's Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value's leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the President
In accordance with Texas Executive Order GA-48 and applicable state or federal law, this position may involve access to, work on, or conducting research involving critical infrastructure as defined by Texas Business & Commerce Code §117.001(2) (formerly Texas Business & Commerce Code § 113.001(2)). If this position is determined to relate to critical infrastructure, please be advised that it will require periodic reviews and background checks after hiring, which will include but are not limited to, criminal history and other security-related screenings that will continue for the duration of your employment in that position. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of these checks.Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree preferred with at least five (5) years experience in fundraising and fundraising management in a higher education environment
  • Strong management and leadership expertise, including the ability to empower, build, and motivate strong individual performance, as well as to encourage effective cohesive teams and a commitment to creating and sustaining an inclusive environment
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills including public speaking persuasive communication, and negotiation, which reflect effective leadership demeanor
  • Wisdom, sound judgment, diplomacy, and political sensitivity
  • Superior interpersonal skills and self-confidence, working comfortably and effectively with distinguished academics, top tier professional and administrative staff, alumni, and corporate and philanthropic leaders
  • Ability and willingness to embrace and promote effective change, and an inclination to seek accelerated program growth through innovation and entrepreneurial risk-taking, along with a competitive personality and willingness to challenge one's self and others, including those within the larger university community
  • A record of significant achievement in the area of leadership/fundraising and demonstrated skill in developing sophisticated strategies for planning, implementing, and administering large, complex donations
  • Preferred experience with coordination and/or management of marketing and communications implementation and strategic planning.

  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate field relating to area of responsibility plus ten (10) years of professional and management experience in similar area
  • Additional job-related education may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis
Licensure/certification:
  • At least five (5) years experience in fundraising and fundraising management, experience with coordination of marketing and communications teams, and/or strategy, preferably in a higher education environment; proven record of achievement, leadership and development
