BHC Consultants is seeking an On-Call Electrical Inspector to join our team. We are a consulting engineering, planning, and building code and construction compliance firm in Washington state, with over 25 years of experience and offices in Seattle, Tacoma, and Bellingham.

Our Building and Construction Code Compliance division offers on-call and full-service building department services to municipal agencies, the federal government, and Native American tribes throughout Western Washington.

General Summary

The ideal candidate will be an experienced, self-motivated building inspector performing electrical inspections for communities managing their own electrical programs, covering commercial and residential projects. This role involves on-call inspections coordinated by the program director as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site and virtual inspections of construction sites and review plans for compliance with building codes and regulations.
• Prepare reports and maintain documentation on building code compliance.
• Coordinate inspections with jurisdictional clients, other inspectors, and plans examiners.
• Utilize jurisdictional documentation protocols and internal database systems such as Accela, TraKit, SmartGov, PermitTrax, iWorQ, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

• IAEI or ICC electrical inspector certification
• ELO1 Electrical License
• At least five years of electrical inspection experience in an agency setting
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, Adobe, and database/spreadsheet programs
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Valid Washington State Driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed Electrical Engineer in Washington
• ICC mechanical code certification

Physical Demands

• Primarily remote work environment
• Travel to construction sites around Western Washington; some assignments elsewhere in the state
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and climb ladders with fall restraint equipment

Hours of Work

This position is part-time and on-call.
