About Us: ForgeLine Solutions designs and manufactures Berry compliant apparel systems for the most arduous tactical environments. We are pioneers and leaders in material science and innovation, we purpose-build from the ground up to meet the performance needs of elite operators engaging in extreme weather and terrain. Additionally, we are building a consumer facing branch of our brand. We are seeking a product expert to join our product team as we grow and evolve our business.

Position Overview: In this product expert hybrid role, you will be responsible for sourcing, testing, managing and maintaining all materials and trims within the ForgeLine material library. Under the direction of the VP of Product, you will be responsible for managing relationships with suppliers and coordinating with the ForgeLine product team to ensure the brand's ethos and design philosophy are appropriately executed through use of thoughtful materials and impeccable product construction, to create products that hold up to the most rigorous of standards. You'll work on material development, product development and technical design, in collaboration with the VP of Product and the apparel designer.

You will have the opportunity to set up and maintain a state-of-the-art materials testing lab, and manage all processes within said lab.

You will assist with other key product-related needs as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Product Team to conceptualize brand vision
• Source and develop all new materials, as needed for new products, as specified in seasonal and ongoing material and product briefs
• Collaborate with the Product Team to select materials appropriate for each product that falls in line with the sourcing and costing goals of the product, when existing materials are available.
• Develop unique and original fabrics with key mill partners, under the direction of the Forgeline product team.
• Conduct appropriate market research to ensure Forgeline is staying relevent on trends and innovations in materials, design, and construction.
• Ensure all new products adhere to appropriate quality standards at both adoption and throughout production.
• Build out an on-site material lab at our Carpinteria HQ and manage all lab testing needed for new and existing materials and trims.
• Establish effective process for maintaining quality standards and appropriate execution of product, based on the characteristics of each fabric and trim.
• Collaborate with design team to prototype custom made trims as needed.
• Support the product creation team with technical design needs including unique construction solutions
• Participate in regular product team reviews and discussions.
• Collaborate regularly with product developers, designers and brand marketers to assist in the selection and execution of new materials and trims.
• Adhere to the product creation calendar
• Participate in hands-on sample and prototype making as needed
• Contribute to other Product Team needs.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in material management, engineering, or industrial design preferred
• 7+ years of product and/or material management experience
• 7+ years experience in the Apparel Industry
• Ability to handle a high volume of requests simultaneously
• Basic knowledge of garment manufacturing
• Ability to sew and handle a variety of machinery is a plus
