WeTheHobby is looking for a skilled and solution-driven Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain server-side logic, database architecture, and APIs supporting our platforms. You will collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and stakeholders to create scalable and secure systems that enhance our customer experience.
This role is based at our innovative sports card store in the Neighborhood of the Arts, Rochester, NY.
Key Responsibilities :
Take ownership of designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and robust backend services.Design applications, including creating design documents, flow charts, sequence diagrams, and other artifacts for successful on-time delivery.Create and optimize database schemas, queries, and models for performance and scalability.Ensure applications are scalable, secure, and maintain high uptime for our growing user base.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions aligned with business objectives.Ensure the scalability, performance, and reliability of the applications you build.Lead service/software implementation by contributing to the codebase, demonstrating best practices for testable, maintainable, and adaptable code.Work on payment gateways, live streaming tools, and third-party integrations to enhance platform functionality.Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for internal and external use.Work closely with front-end developers, designers, and stakeholders to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.Participate in planning and strategy meetings to align technical solutions with business goals.Ensure high quality in application development through automated testing, peer code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.Stay updated with industry trends and technologies to bring innovative solutions to the team.Familiarity with Design Patterns (GOF, etc.), Paradigms, and SOLID principles. A focus on continuous improvement and mentoring other engineers.Requirements : Experience :
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend development.
- At least 2 years focused on designing, building, deploying, and maintaining DOTNET applications.
- 5+ years leading design or architecture of systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Strong knowledge of database design, modeling, and optimization (SQL and NoSQL).
- Hands-on experience with AWS services.
Technical Skills :
- Strong understanding of GraphQL, REST, sockets, SignalR pub/sub, and buses preferred.
- Experience with enterprise software development platforms, particularly Dotnet.
- Knowledge of modern software development practices and tools (CI/CD, Git, Docker).
- Familiarity with frameworks like Express.js and Dotnet.
- Knowledge of microservices architecture and event-driven architecture is a plus.
- Understanding security best practices in software development.
- Experience with eCommerce platforms or systems (e.g., BigCommerce, Square).
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks like React.js for better collaboration.

- Proven ability to work effectively in small teams with strong communication skills.
- Strong multitasking skills, capable of handling multiple projects.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges.

Education :
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
In accordance with applicable laws, the anticipated salary range for this position in Rochester, NY, based on experience, is $98,000 - $132,000.
