The Team You'll Work With:

The Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA), established by the NYC Charter, promotes the well-being of immigrant communities by acting as a bridge between city government and these communities, advising on policies, and supporting city agencies in serving diverse populations.

MOIA is recruiting for one (1) Administrative Director of Social Services M2, functioning as a Director of Intergovernmental Affairs.

The role involves liaising with elected officials and city, state, and federal agencies on legislative and intergovernmental matters. Reporting to the Chief Policy Advisor, responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with intergovernmental partners and coordinating MOIA's legislative agenda.
  • Building relationships with elected officials, community groups, and the public, representing MOIA at City Hall and other forums.
  • Handling constituent inquiries routed through elected officials' offices.
  • Researching, analyzing, and tracking legislation and policies affecting intergovernmental relations.
  • Developing project plans for interagency initiatives, ensuring responsibilities are clear and goals are met.
  • Participating in interagency workgroups and task forces.
  • Supporting policy development and strategic direction of the office.
  • Representing the office and the Commissioner externally, when appropriate.
  • Preparing for hearings, conducting research, drafting testimony, and coordinating hearing logistics.
  • Managing press inquiries, drafting press materials, and planning public events.
  • Performing other duties as needed.

    Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree and four years of progressively responsible experience in a large organization, including one at the managerial level, in social services or related fields; or
  • Equivalent education/experience, with graduate degrees or licenses substituting for experience as specified.

    • Preferred Skills:

    • Experience in legislative or intergovernmental affairs, especially with NYC Council or NYS Legislature.
    • Strong prioritization and multitasking skills.
    • Ability to work independently and exercise initiative.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
