Community College Preparatory Academy is accepting applications for the position of Student Support Coordinator. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on vacancies. This is an in-person position with standards from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Salary is based on experience.

JOB SUMMARY
The Student Support Coordinator may manage a small caseload while acting as the initial contact for the Student Success Specialist team. This individual should demonstrate tolerance and patience as they provide academic coaching and assess student progress. The Coordinator should be a tactful listener with strong interpersonal skills and transparent communication with students and staff. They must engage with various stakeholders using clear and consistent communication. Ultimately, the Coordinator will serve as a collaborative link between students, the Student Success Specialist team, and the Director of Student Support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
TEAM SUPPORT
- Serve as the initial contact person for the Student Support team to provide support and address concerns.
- Design and facilitate professional development workshops to share best practices and address growth areas.
- Analyze performance data from the Student Support team to identify trends and ensure performance goals are met.
- Collaborate with colleagues and external community organizations to identify resources.
- Build the professional capacity of the Student Success Specialist team around student coaching, goal setting, and data tracking.
- Work closely with the Director of Student Support and team members to implement strategies to improve the Strategic Enrollment Management Unit.
STUDENT SUPPORT & RETENTION
- Manage a caseload of up to 40 students in academic and career pathways.
- Assist students with problem-solving, critical thinking, self-analysis, and self-management.
- Help students develop skills in time management, organization, study skills, and goal setting.
- Coach students systematically in barrier identification and problem-solving.
- Establish and monitor Student Success plans and review student profiles.
- Conduct and track monthly meetings and bi-weekly wellness calls.
- Monitor students closely and collaborate with instructors to identify at-risk situations and opportunities for academic improvement.
- Assist in planning and executing student success plans.
- Provide proactive outreach and timely interventions through various communication methods.
RECRUITMENT
- Participate in citywide activities and outreach to recruit new students.
- Contribute to designing and facilitating orientation sessions for new and returning students.
- Conduct outreach to enroll new students and support application processes.
- Support online application procedures with scheduling and technology assistance.
- Review and cross-reference student data to identify re-enrollment prospects and verify enrollment status.
ORGANIZATIONAL ENGAGEMENT
- Attend staff development and professional activities to maintain competence.
- Create a supportive environment that promotes student accountability.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred in education or related field.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to meet students where they are.
- Knowledge of online, hybrid, Zoom, and other learning platforms.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Experience with coaching strategies in student support.
- Non-judgmental approach to building positive relationships with adult learners.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in academic and community settings.
- Flexible, organized, and able to prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other platforms.
- Ability to meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and learn new technologies quickly.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is an in-person position based in Washington, D.C. The role may require travel within the D.C. Metro area, attending community events, and evening/weekend hours.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Stand for extended periods.
- Lift objects weighing approximately 25 lbs.
- Perform repetitive tasks with minimal breaks.
