JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Development
Develop and maintain personal relationships that inspire trust and support positive staff connection to the program, branch, and mission of the YMCA.
Hold staff and volunteers accountable for following program procedures and policies.
Assist and guide staff to support positive behavior management and staff-child relationships.
Provide ongoing feedback and coaching for staff and volunteers, and maintain documentation of both successes and areas for improvement.
Participate in and give feedback to the Program Director/Coordinator for staff annual performance reviews for all staff under your supervision.
Monitor staff attendance, document and report tardies and absences weekly to the program supervisor.
Program Operations:
- Plan, supervise, and implement quality activity plans according to standards set by KDHE and YMCA, following prepared session packets and curriculum.
- Prepare and post activity calendar, program schedule, food service menus, and staffing schedule monthly, making changes as needed.
- Be actively engaged in program activities throughout the session to build relationships with youth and serve as a role model for staff.
- Facilitate food service as directed, ensuring compliance with KDHE/CACFP, including accurate and timely documentation.
- Maintain accurate rosters and communicate with Child Care Accounts regarding discrepancies and changes in children's attendance.
- Ensure organization, maintenance, and inventory of equipment, supplies, and food storage in all areas used by the program.
- Apply program policies and procedures respectfully when responding to staff, parent, and participant situations.
- Respond quickly and effectively to accidents and incidents, following YMCA and KDHE reporting policies, and submit all required documentation within 24 hours.
- Monitor attendance and enrollment to ensure staffing ratios are maintained, and report fluctuations and staffing needs promptly.
Strong Community Campaign: Provide leadership for aspects of the campaign, special events, and other fundraising activities to meet goals. Engage in the annual campaign, including soliciting donations and facilitating impact tours.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum age of 18
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 3 months of experience providing care and supervision to school-age children
Post-Hire/Training Requirements:
The following must be obtained and on file within the first 30 days of hire:
- Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (must be maintained throughout employment)
- KDHE Approved School Age Child Development Course
- KDHE Approved Medication Administration Course
- YMCA Child Care Branch New Employee Orientation (NEO)
