Hybrid : Reporting to a specific location where work needs to be performed / collaboration should happen (regardless of whether this location is within a hub), and without regard to where a candidate lives (some employees may end up hybrid who live more than 50 miles away but where business needs dictate them to be onsite at a specific location three days per week).

This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to GM Global Technical Center, Sunnyvale Technical Center, or Austin Innovation Center at least three times per week.

About the Team :

Innovative design ideas are destined to be a catalyst to transform our automotive software and service experiences. The General Motors Human Interface Design team is dedicated to inventing, designing, and delivering our core software experiences in our vehicles and across our 1st party apps and branded websites.

About the Role

Lead producers are responsible for enabling the operational frameworks of the GM interface design team, including processes and best practices. They act as the liaison between Software Product Management, Engineering, Program Management, Marketing, and the Brand Studios, ensuring seamless collaboration and successful outcomes. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, a keen eye for aesthetics, multitasking abilities, and a problem-solving mindset to define what makes a great product. Lead producers oversee complex workflows in collaboration with a team of specialists focused on delivering exceptional user experiences through research and implementation.

Responsibilities

Program Practice Management

  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ideate, iterate, and launch new product experiences at scale.
  • Utilize storytelling skills to influence design intent across various teams and levels within the design interface team.
  • Build, lead, and inspire a diverse team of 8-10 program managers at different career stages, fostering growth and development.
  • Establish and refine teams dedicated to product delivery and cross-functional collaboration, focusing on operational excellence and program maturity.
  • Oversee the selection, engagement, and performance of third-party vendors and partners for program delivery.
  • Partner with design, product management, engineering, and business leaders to develop and implement operational models that drive efficiency and measurable outcomes.
  • Advocate for program management best practices across the organization, strengthening cross-team relationships and promoting influence to achieve customer and business value.

Program Direction

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of high-impact design initiatives, ensuring timely launch of features, services, and process improvements.
  • Drive the development, standardization, and adoption of scalable design program management frameworks, tools, and methodologies.
  • Communicate progress and impact to senior leadership to facilitate buy-in and support.

Program Implementation

  • Ensure all design-related programs meet objectives, quality, and schedule standards.
  • Facilitate collaboration among teams to identify and resolve risks related to design implementation.
  • Support regional teams in applying global standards and ensuring seamless integration of design solutions.
  • Monitor and maintain design quality and compliance throughout the production lifecycle, from concept to post-launch support.

Qualifications :

  • Experience working with software design teams to develop applications and websites at scale.
  • Portfolio demonstrating workflow process, creative IQ, and problem-solving skills.
  • 10+ years in program and project management, using multiple methodologies within software design teams.
  • 5+ years managing program teams, preferably in automotive.
  • Commitment to designing inclusive and accessible products.
  • Experience in mobility and in-car industries is a plus.
  • Expertise in UI, interaction, and visual design principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple projects, resources, schedules, and content.
  • Proven leadership in managing and developing high-performing teams.

Compensation : The salary range is $158,500 - $242,900, based on experience and factors relevant to the role. This information is an estimate and may vary by location.

Bonus Potential : Incentive pay based on company and individual performance.
