OUIA oversees Louisiana's Unemployment Insurance (UI) program, which provides temporary financial assistance to eligible workers who are unemployed through no fault of their own. The office manages the full UI lifecycle, including employer tax collection, benefit claims processing, fraud prevention, and appeals. Minimum Qualifications Seven years of experience in unemployment insurance, workforce development programs, workers' compensation, administrative services, or social services; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus four years of experience in unemployment insurance, workforce development programs, workers' compensation, administrative services, or social services; OR A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in unemployment insurance, workforce development programs, workers' compensation, administrative services, or social services; OR An advanced degree in any field or a Juris Doctorate plus three years of experience in unemployment insurance, workforce development programs, workers' compensation, administrative services, or social services. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: • Directs and oversees all statewide activities related to the Benefit Accuracy Measurement (BAM) and Tax Performance System (TPS) programs to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. • Reviews the work of supervisors and specialists for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to U.S. Department of Labor and state UI program guidelines. • Provides training and technical guidance to staff involved in BAM and TPS to ensure effective program implementation. • Develops and recommends corrective action strategies to agency leadership based on BAM and TPS findings, and advises on areas impacting program compliance. • Coordinates the preparation of federally mandated BAM and TPS reports and serves as liaison with the U.S. Department of Labor during audits and reviews. Current permanent status, classified employees may be required to accept a Probational appointment if selected.
