Job Description Summary Requires in-depth knowledge of laboratory testing, reporting procedures, specimen collection and processing, in addition to the operation and maintenance of related equipment in order to perform a variety of analytical tests on patient specimens and general knowledge of regulations impacting laboratory technology. Individual must be self motivated capable of solving complex problems for all patients and composed in stressful situations. Responsible for providing clinical and administrative support for the lab. Responsible for direct supervision of all care team members of the laboratory. Duties include supporting the Lab Director, maintain lab quality control, update policy and procedures and perform technical bench duties as needed. Manages two or more professional and support staff including subordinate managers. More discretion and greater financial authority than lower management levels. Directs the analysis, planning, implementation, and expenditures and budget tracking of major operational projects or initiatives. Provides recommendations to the leaders throughout the organization. Leads in developing strategies and implementation plans to improve and standardize all aspects of operations. Collaborates with department/business unit leadership to support the budget process and meeting key operational goals. Collaborates with leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical and non-clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies within a variety of delivery settings. Establishes department policies and procedures. This role will serve as the primary liaison for the department. Manages and influences relationships with senior management team, administrators, functional area managers and staff to achieve best in practice performance and business results. Additional Job Description Required Minimum Training and Education: Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Work Experience: 7 years progressive work experience and 2 years management experience. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: State licensure and/or professional certification requirement/s dependent on position. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Physical Requirements: Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions . Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing 20 lbs (+/-) unassisted. Lift from 36 to overhead 15 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
