In this role, the mechanical engineer will lead a project from the conceptual stage through to completion, considering both budgetary and operational considerations. In this role, you will collaborate with sales and operations to develop new prototypes, including initial and ongoing design reviews. In this role, you need an analytical, inquiring, and critical mind that can imagine and understand abstract concepts, systems, ideas, and problem-solve in an organized and self-disciplined way.

Key Responsibilities:

    \n
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • \n
  • Translate design information into manufacturing information through routings via ERP, models, and drawings, as well as various engineering software applications (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • \n
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and other relevant data to evaluate the feasibility of designs or applications, including cost and maintenance requirements.
  • \n
  • Provide cost and lead time estimates, as well as technical information, to customers through quotes and project proposals.
  • \n
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis to ensure designs meet specifications and standards.
  • \n
  • Work with basic AC/DC electrical circuits, assisting in the integration of electrical systems into mechanical designs.
  • \n
  • Participate in fabricating and assembling prototypes to test design concepts and evaluate their effectiveness. Conduct tests and experiments on mechanical systems, record data, and prepare technical reports.
  • \n
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and manuals, to support project development.
  • \n
  • Work closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure project success. Troubleshoot any issues and develop practical solutions for production and manufacturing teams.
  • \n
  • Ensure designs comply with customer specifications, industry standards, and regulations, including translating and providing technical interfaces with customer needs.
  • \n
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within the production area to meet safety, quality, and productivity metrics.
  • \n
  • Assist the engineering department in refining processes and procedures to maintain competitiveness in the power solution market.
  • \n
  • Abide by safety rules and procedures.
  • \n
  • Additional tasks assigned.

  • Ability to interact with customers, management, and co-workers

  • Handling customer proposals, performing quotes, and pricing.
  • \n
  • Ability to interact with customers, management, inter- and intra-departmental co-workers, sales, and production personnel. Heavy interaction/consulting with Production Supervisors exists.
  • \n
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • \n
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.

Work Environment

  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Education and Experience

\n
    \n
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical preferred.
  • \n
  • 3- 5 years of experience in a mechanical or manufacturing environment.
  • \n
  • 3- 5 years of experience with SolidWorks.
  • \n
  • Basic electrical engineering skills with AC/DC circuits.
  • \n
  • Experience with the following manufacturing processes (Milling, Turning, Cutting, Welding, Assembling, etc.)
  • \n
  • Project Management experience
  • \n
  • ERP System Proficiency – Infor Cloud Suite Industrial is preferred.
  • \n
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • \n
