Reports to: Training and Education Manager
OVERVIEW
The Training Coordinator is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering training materials that enhance the skills, knowledge, and effectiveness of staff, volunteers, and community partners. This role ensures that training aligns with organizational goals and is evidence-based, culturally competent, and trauma-informed. The Training Coordinator works closely with department heads to identify training needs and creates a supportive and engaging learning environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Training Design and Development
- Design and update curriculum and training materials for in-person and virtual delivery, including slide decks, supplemental materials, and interactive learning exercises.
- Develop learning objectives, training outlines, participant guides, and evaluation tools.
- Ensure content is accessible, inclusive, and aligned with best practices in adult learning.
Training Delivery
- Facilitate interactive trainings, workshops, and webinars for staff, peers, and external partners.
- Coordinate logistics for staff training and training events, including scheduling, registration, and materials.
- Support Continuing Education Unit (CEU) application and tracking, when applicable.
Collaboration and Capacity Building
- Support internal leadership development and train-the-trainer initiatives.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, community partners, and institutions (e.g., universities) to co-create training content.
- Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and collaborative learning groups.
Needs Assessment
- Collaborate with department heads and team leaders to identify training needs.
- Conduct training needs assessments and gap analyses.
- Develop individual training plans for staff.
Record Keeping and Reporting
- Assist with accurate records of training activities, attendance, and outcomes.
- Prepare reports on training activities and effectiveness for management review.
Support and Guidance
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to staff and volunteers.
- Address training-related queries and concerns.
- Encourage a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist with training-involved event planning and execution.
Other Duties
- Stay current on local trends with the recovery community and learning techniques.
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in education, public health, social work, psychology, human resources, or related field and/or minimum of two (2) years of experience in developing and delivering training to adult learners.
- Lived experience with substance use recovery is highly preferred.
- Experience in recovery services, harm reduction, or behavioral health settings.
- Certified Peer Support Specialist or trainer certification a plus.
- Experience with e-learning platforms and digital training tools.
- Strong facilitation and public speaking skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other instructional design tools (Teams, Canva, LMS platforms).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for the nonprofit sector and the organization's mission.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people.
- Creative and innovative approach to training and development.
- Must be 18 or older.
- Be able to complete I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification.
- Be able to complete a background check (prior convictions may not necessarily disqualify an applicant).
- Internal candidates will be given preference.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Full-time position, typically 40 hours per week, with occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
- Work is performed in an office environment with regular use of standard office equipment.
- Remote work may be authorized.
- Occasional travel is required for meetings, conferences, and events.
Compensation details: 23.08-23.08 Hourly Wage
