As a Turnaround Event Manager in our Global Asset Integrity and Turnaround department, you will lead a high-performing, cross-functional team of engineers, specialists, planners, technicians, and others to plan and execute complex turnaround events. The manager and team implement our industry-leading OE Turnaround Standard to ensure the success of our turnarounds. These eventseach representing a $50MM to $200MM investmentare critical to ensuring our operating units run safely, reliably, and efficiently. The event manager collaborates closely with site leadership, global engineering partners, and manufacturing leaders to shape strategies that drive operational excellence. You'll be at the forefront of delivering results that directly impact plant performance and business success. This is an ideal role for leaders who thrive on teamwork, talent development, and accountability, and can meet the challenge of managing large-scale, high-impact events. The duration of each assignment to plan and execute a turnaround is 2 to 3 years.

A Day in the Life:
  • Lead a team responsible for the development, planning, and execution of large, complex turnaround events with integrated capital of $50MM to $200MM total capital expenditure.
  • Collaborate with the turnaround management and steering teams to define clear objectives, establish turnaround scope and priorities, and ensure alignment on key deliverables, timelines, and success criteria to drive effective turnaround execution.
  • Lead the turnaround core team by aligning them around clear objectives, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment, and motivating team members to deliver high-impact results on time and within scope.
  • Evaluate individual and team performance to ensure alignment with individual and team goals while actively supporting the growth and development of team members through feedback, coaching, and opportunities that advance both project success and career progression.
  • Provides effective people management by setting clear expectations, holding team members accountable, delivering timely feedback, and supporting individual development to drive team performance and growth.
  • Ensure adherence to the OE Turnaround Standard, preferred practices, guidelines, and best practices to maintain consistency, quality, and compliance.
  • Drive team collaboration with other turnaround teams, GAIT organization, and manufacturing organizations to share best practices, integrate lessons learned, and apply innovative approaches that enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Communicate turnaround status, key performance indicators, and both leading and lagging metrics to site and corporate leadership, ensuring transparency, alignment, and informed decision-making.
You Bring This Value:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering, management, or construction management is preferred.
  • For candidates with degrees, minimum of 10 years of experience in a process plant or comparable environment is required, and 5 or more years of prior turnaround or related work experience is preferred for degreed candidates.
  • For candidates without degrees, minimum of 15 years of experience as stated above is required.
  • For all candidates, formal experience in a management or supervisory role is required.
  • Demonstrated formal experience in people management, including setting clear expectations, holding team members accountable, and providing constructive feedback to support performance and professional growth.
  • Mastery of leadership competencies including building partnerships, delivering results, growing capabilities, promoting inclusion, and driving innovation.
  • Experience leading or managing large, complex projects with diverse project teams.
  • Experience applying continuous improvement methods and leading continuous improvement efforts.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills and ability to relate complex concepts and issues to team members and leaders.
  • Analytical skills and ability to develop appropriate performance indicators and monitoring systems to evaluate project status.
  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours, typically 12 to 14 hours per day for 13 days in a row, for extended durations of two to three months preceding, during, and after turnaround execution is required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel in support of LyondellBasell turnaround process standardization.
