JOB SUMMARYThis job is located in various departments throughout the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor. This posting will be used to fill a current vacancy in the Maintenance Division of the Airports Department. However, an eligibility list will be established or supplemented for filling future vacancies, including vacancies in other departments, per provisions of the AFSCME collective bargaining agreement. The worker in this classification may work alone, in pairs, or in a group in order to complete assigned tasks. An employee of this classification performs work of a skilled nature utilizing knowledge and skills acquired previously. The Painter's tasks vary in nature depending upon the department to which the individual is assigned. Essential functions of the job include: performs tasks utilizing various techniques and procedures in the preparation of work aids and surfaces at job site from painting trim at various City facilities and buildings to painting City signs or airport streets and runways. The nature of this position requires the worker to assume full responsibility for following all procedures related to work safety and equipment maintenance. Some projects will require the incumbent to perform painting tasks from ladders and scaffolding. The worker receives both written and verbal work orders. The work product is subject to inspection by the supervisor upon completion. General job functions include: job preparation; paint and finish work; maintenance of work aids and equipment; and information exchange. Note: Typical City employee working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
