The Patient Transporter 2 safely moves patients, belongings, records, equipment, and specimens courteously and promptly using wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, and carts. Essential Functions of the Role. Safely transports patients and their belongings, medical records, charts, blood specimens, and equipment to various areas. Maintains a friendly, efficient, positive customer service attitude toward customers, clients, and co-workers. Safely moves patients with traction, I - Vs, drainage apparatus, oxygen, and other encumbrances. Provides emergency help to patients who become ill during transport. This continues until proper staff are notified and help arrives. Verifies the proper patient identity by visually checking patient identification or verifying with nursing staff. When transporting a cardiac-monitored patient, an RN will accompany the patient unless the patient meets criteria for nurse-guided removal of cardiac monitoring for inpatient transport.
