Epitec is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our automotive client's team. As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, the candidate will play a pivotal role in driving quality improvements and warranty reductions in assembly plants, as well as prevent recurrence actions for future programs.
Location: Chicago, IL (onsite)
This is a long-term, ongoing contract. W2 only.
There is heavy travel required for this position to various plants across North America.
Responsibilities:
- Lead data-driven analysis of quality and manufacturing issues on the plant floor
- Develop and implement corrective actions (ICAs, PCAs, PRAs)
- Collaborate across engineering, product development, and quality teams
- Use VRT health charts to prioritize fixes that reduce R/1000
- Implement error-proofing tools and technologies to improve quality
- Manage VME tasks for minor programs and running changes
- Conduct in-plant trials and support engineering change activities
- Participate in daily and weekly quality meetings, audits, and containment efforts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred)
- Experience in automotive manufacturing and assembly processes
- Familiarity with error-proofing, vision systems, and fastening technologies
- Strong project management and communication skills
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and 3D CAD tools (Teamcenter, CATIA, etc.)
- Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance
- Willingness to travel to North American assembly plants
