We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Renewable Energy Interconnection Manager with 5 years of proven experience managing utility-scale interconnections. The ideal candidate will lead the interconnection process for renewable energy projects—from application through commissioning—ensuring compliance with utility, ISO/RTO, and regulatory requirements. This role requires deep technical knowledge of grid integration, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to coordinate across engineering, permitting, and project development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end interconnection process for solar, wind, battery storage, and hybrid renewable projects.
- Prepare and submit interconnection applications to utilities and ISOs/RTOs, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
- Review and interpret interconnection studies, including feasibility, system impact, and facility studies, providing actionable feedback to the engineering team.
- Coordinate with utilities, transmission operators, and regulatory agencies to resolve interconnection issues and negotiate agreements.
- Track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure successful grid integration.
- Support electrical design teams in aligning project configurations with interconnection requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of interconnection rules, tariffs, and emerging industry trends.
- Facilitate internal and external communications to ensure all parties remain informed on interconnection progress and risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Power Systems, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in renewable energy interconnection management, preferably with utility-scale projects.
- Strong understanding of transmission and distribution systems, protection schemes, and grid codes.
- Proven track record of managing interconnection applications with major utilities or ISOs/RTOs.
- Familiarity with interconnection regulations, including FERC, NERC, and state-specific requirements.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with power system modeling tools (e.g., PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory) is a plus.
