The Village of Matteson is seeking an experienced marketing communications professional with the ability to develop and execute marketing campaigns to support all Village initiatives and goals.

The Village desires an individual who is community-minded and a strategic thinker to work with other departments to ensure alignment and consistency of Village messages.The ideal candidate will be able to create and manage content for various marketing channels, including social media, advertising, and public relations.

The selected candidate will have proven experience as a Marketing Communications Manager (or similar role), be a creative thinker with a strategic mindset, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across a wide range of constituencies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic Marketing & Communications:Collaborate with department leadership and develop and execute marketing campaigns to support all Village initiatives, programs, and events.Maintain consistent branding and messaging across all platforms and materials.
  • Content Creation & Management:Draft and create content for press releases, quarterly printed newsletters, weekly e-newsletters, advertisements, website content, and social media posts highlighting village-wide news across all departments, business success stories, investment opportunities, and community campaigns/events.Create content for the Village cable channel and process marquee message requests.
  • Public Relations & Media Coordination:Serve as a liaison to local media and business publications for positive coverage of Village development projects.In partnership withEconomic Development, collect pertinent information from local businesses, news media, libraries, and schools to use in various media forms. Coordinate and manage advertising for Matteson Avenue's weekly newsletter.
  • Digital Engagement & Website Management:Develop and manage social media platforms, including Facebook, Nextdoor, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and the Village website.Monitor and analyze social media and digital engagement metrics to inform outreach strategies.
  • Internal & External Communication:Manage internal communication with staff; respond to inquiries and provide information to employees, residents, and the public.
  • Event Marketing & Logistics Support:Promote and support village-focused events such as community events, workshops, forums, and networking breakfasts.Assist in organizing logistics, registration, and follow-up communication for events for promotion.
  • Photography & Videography Coordination:Maintain a collection of photos and videos for use in marketing materials and publications. Perform photography and coordinate videography of community events, grand openings, and departmental news as needed.
  • Information Gathering:Interview individuals and attend community gatherings to obtain content for publication, verify facts, and clarify information.
  • Village-Wide Marketing Coordination:Coordinate large-scale, village-wide marketing initiatives and manage high-profile media partnerships.Work with external vendors and internal departments to ensure messaging aligns with the Village's brand and strategic priorities.
  • Publications & Promotions Coordination:Attend monthly South Suburban Communication Coalition Meetings; work with departments to compile an annual Village events calendar; collect and coordinate Village ads, listings, and events with Visit Chicago Southland for promotion.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Communications, or related field required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related experience writing and editing projects; a portfolio of relevant previous projects is highly preferred.
  • Utilizes design software to develop, photo and video camera to design, and produce content of promotional materials for marketing, programs, and events, and produces accurate and concisely written press releases and articles for various organizational projects.
  • Community-minded and have a working understanding of public programs and services; non-profit, community, and civic groups.
  • Considerable knowledge of communication and publications, techniques and practices, desktop publishing, graphic applications, social networking, and social media.
  • Outgoing, personable, and articulate, good writing, organizational, and planning skills, and ability to meet deadlines with high-quality work.
  • Ability to effectively speak and present a diverse range of material using a variety of media to large and small groups. Ability to analyze and interpret information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively across a wide range of constituencies.
  • May be required to work after normal business hours or on the weekends in support of Village-sponsored events.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The salary for this position is dependent upon qualifications, experience, and record of achievement.The established salary range is $79,860 to $95,965; salary will be negotiated between the selected candidate and the Village.The Village offers a comprehensive benefits package including participation in IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund), voluntary deferred compensation funds, health insurance benefits effective the first day of work, including medical, dental, and vision coverage (also available to dependents), flexible spending account (medical and dependent care), and employer paid term life insurance.The Village also offers a generous leave package including paid vacation days, holidays, and sick leave.
