The Patient Attendant transports patients safely to and from the diagnostic areas and patient care areas. Distributes, cleans and manages the flow of oxygen tanks, equipment, wheelchairs, stretchers, rolling and other miscellaneous rolling stock hospital wide. Assists with medical and safety alerts as duties permit.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:
Individual must be able to meet established specific physical requirements of the job, sitting for up to four hours per day, four hours at a time. Standing for up to eight hours per day, four hours at a time and walking for up to eight hours per day, four hours at a time. Frequent handling and firm gripping in moving equipment, rarely fingering and twisting/turning. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and walking of objects weighing up to 200 pounds with assistance. Frequent squatting and kneeling, occasional stooping/bending, crouching and reaching above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation. Seeing as it relates to general vision and color vision and depth perception.
Education:
High School diploma preferred.
Training and Experience:
Some hospital experience preferred. Training will consist of a two to four week training program, several department-specific in-services, and attendance of the St. Luke's Hospital orientation program and completion of the annual Essentials Newsletter. Must maintain CPR certification.
