Job Title: Surgical Technologist → OR
Weekly Gross Pay:- $2000 per hour
Type: Full-Time Contract Position (13-week assignment)
Location: Johnson City, NY 13790
Start Date: 09/02/2025
Hours:
- Per Day: 8 hours/day
- Per Week: 40 hours/week
- Schedule: Day Rotation (Monday–Friday), typically starting between 6:00 AM–7:00 AM
- Shift Options: 5×8-hour shifts or 4×10-hour shifts
- Call Requirements: Up to 3 shifts of call per week (8–16 hours each)
- Weekend Requirement: 1 working weekend every 4 weeks, with call shift following shift of work
- Specialty Requirement: Cardiothoracic experience (CABG, valve replacements, VATS, robotic chest procedures, etc.)
✅ Must-Have Requirements
Experience:
- Previous Operating Room or Surgical Technologist experience (preferred)
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Certifications:
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – NBSTSA or National Healthcareer Association (required)
- BLS Certification – AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross (required)
Key Job Duties
- Follow infection control policies and maintain sterile technique preoperatively and intraoperatively
- Assist the surgeon with gowning, gloving, draping, passing instruments, and anticipating needs during procedures
- Maintain an organized operative field and perform accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts
- Assemble supplies and equipment according to preference cards; identify conflicts or shortages
- Care for instruments and supplies post-procedure and assist in efficient OR turnover
- Ensure a safe surgical environment, identifying and addressing hazards
- Utilize OR staff as resources and mentor new OR personnel when needed
- Assist with suturing, retracting, and suctioning under surgeon direction
- Handle and label specimens per policy
- Participate in rotating call duty and weekend coverage
- Perform additional duties as assigned
