Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Five years of experience with test management (e.g., test methodologies, planning, execution, and reporting) in a data center environment or experience with hardware testing, process validation, or software testing. Experience with systems integration and validation processes.
Preferred qualifications: Two years of experience with process or workflow definition and development in a data center environment. Experience leading projects or programs related to system deployment, maintenance, or decommissioning. Understanding of the overall systems integration process. Ability to put comprehensive workflows in place. Ability to effectively work with and communicate with all levels of management and individual contributors on the team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proposed data driven decision making ability.
Google's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you're sure it meets Google's standards of quality and reliability.
As a Hardware Test Engineer in Google's Cloud Supply Chain and Operations (CSCO) team, you will define and develop process workflows for the next generation of primarily L10/L11 systems. The main responsibility is to own the creation of data center process workflows across a portfolio of projects, ranging from network switches to machine learning pods. The primary goal is to reduce time and cost for L10/L11 installation, maintenance, and repairs. In order to achieve the goal, you will interface with stakeholders from data center, manufacturing, software, and product design to optimize and outline data center process workflows. You will influence new operational workflows through technical insights that accelerate deployment, maintenance, modification, and decommissioning of new products. You will collaborate with a sister team of Hardware and Software Test Engineers to build in-house competence in Design for Operations.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $113,000-$161,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
