Duties Description: The position entails helping constituents address community concerns, such as quality of life issues that require working with city and state agencies to find solutions. Will assist constituents with the enrollment and renewal process of benefits programs offered through the NYC Human Resources Administration and other City or non-profit programs. Will possess knowledge of housing regulation, specifically knowledge of NYS HCR (DHCR) regulation (rent stabilization). Will have experience in providing assistance related to lease renewals, income affidavits, apartment repairs, tax abatement programs and other housing related matters. Will possess some knowledge of co-op/condo management and private homes related to homeowner tax abatement's and other available programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist constituents by telephone, email, and in person
  • Correspond with State and City Intergovernmental Offices
  • Assist with the management of incoming emails
  • Maintain and monitor constituent tracker
  • Maintain a contact list of intergovernmental affairs and other community service based organizations
  • Work on projects related to Member town halls and sponsored events
  • Attend and represent the Assembly member at public meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree(s)
  • Experience in providing constituent services
  • Knowledge of NYC housing both private residential properties and government regulated housing programs and entities, including knowledge of housing regulation, filings, tenant rights, housing court proceedings
  • Knowledge of benefit programs such as SCRIE/DRIE, SNAP, Medicaid, medical insurance, HEAP, FHEPS, and Section 8.
  • Computer literacy, including expertise with Microsoft Office and Google Docs
  • Ties to the Bronx preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
