University Assistant Director Of Student Records

The Office of the University Registrar (OUR) supports the academic integrity of The City University of New York (CUNY) by administering student records, enrollment-related technologies, and university-wide academic processes. Reporting to the University Associate Director for Student Records, the University Assistant Director of Student Records applies subject matter expertise in student records and enrollment operations to support university-wide processes. The role serves as a primary point of contact between the University Registrar and campus registrars, maintains key academic and policy documentation, and works extensively with enterprise systems including CUNYfirst (PeopleSoft-based ERP), DegreeWorks, and related applications. The Assistant Director contributes to both strategic projects and operational activities that ensure the accuracy of student records and the efficiency of academic processing across CUNY campuses.

The Assistant Director maintains and updates curriculum and academic policy documentation, administers daily operations involving CUNYfirst Campus Solutions, Schedule Builder, DegreeWorks, National Student Clearinghouse, and related platforms; participates in system enhancements, launches, and support activities. The Assistant Director oversees university-wide processes such as transcript automation, Excelsior Scholarship verification, and National Student Clearinghouse reporting. The Assistant Director processes and verifies course and curriculum updates through CUR, ensuring accuracy and compliance with institutional requirements. The Assistant Director develops, runs, and distributes reports from the Student Records module in CUNYfirst; assists with reconciliation and dissemination of university-wide student data. The Assistant Director contributes to the development, documentation, and application of OUR policies and procedures. The Assistant Director investigates and resolves system-related issues in CUNYfirst; delivers training and provides technical guidance on CUNYfirst and Coursedog to campus users. The Assistant Director provides direction and guidance to assigned OUR staff. The Assistant Director represents OUR in internal and external meetings as needed. The Assistant Director performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required. Preferred: Master's degree in higher education administration or in a related discipline. Four years' experience working with student records operations, college registration, academic credential evaluation, and/or computerized registration systems. Detail oriented with knowledge of registration-related technical platforms. Proficiency in national standards for academic records, policy, and procedures, with familiarity of issues typically associated with curriculum, governance, transfer requirements, and transcripts. Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions frameworks and databases, PeopleSoft Query, SQL, and ERP/CRM solutions as related. Strong research, evaluative, and analytical and time/project management skills. Commitment to excellence in customer service, with exceptional communication skills and proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Compensation And Benefits

The salary range is $72,145 - $84,011, commensurate with credentials, education, and experience. CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
