As a Purchasing/Fixed Asset Accountant, you will perform accounting support and general administrative work in the preparation, processing, maintenance and verification of accounting documents, records, and reports such as fixed assets and procurement (purchasing)and/or budget.Job Responsibilities
- Developing an organizations purchasing strategy
- Forecasting levels of demand for services and products to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on inventory stock levels
- Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
- Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
- Identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them
- Negotiating RFPs and contracts and monitoring their progress, checking the quality of service provided
- Maintenance of contract/vendor files and using them as reference for the future
- Forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities
- Produce reports and statistics for key metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors
- Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives
- Responsible for researching, identifying, and recommending utilization of federal, state and/or local purchasing pools whenever feasible/possible
- Generate, review and update fixed asset reports as required
- Conduct regular audits of fixed assets to verify their existence and accuracy, and reconciling fixed asset registers
- Managing the process of retiring and disposing of assets when they are no longer needed
- Communicate with departments to ensure assets are properly recorded and tagged
- Training and supervising the work of other staff members that may perform purchasing functions

Required QualificationsEducation/Training
- Bachelors degree in Accounting
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Minimum two (2) years experience with financial accounting software, 1 year with MIP Abila preferred
- Experience with electronic document management systems desired
- Knowledge of methods, practices, documents and terminology used in financial and accounting record keeping
Experience
- At least 1-2 years of related experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment highly preferred
