This role is ideal for an experienced IT professional who thrives on ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performing systems in a remote work environment. You will play a key part in configuring, monitoring, and maintaining critical network and server infrastructure, supporting both virtual and physical systems. Accountabilities: In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring maximum uptime, security, and efficiency. Key responsibilities include:
- Administering user accounts, permissions, and access rights in compliance with security policies.
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, replacing defective components when necessary.
- Performing data backups, disaster recovery operations, and routine network startup/shutdown procedures.
- Monitoring network performance and recommending adjustments to meet future demands.
- Configuring, monitoring, and maintaining email applications and antivirus software.
- Training users on system operations and best practices.
- Designing, configuring, and testing hardware, networking software, and operating system software.
- Maintaining detailed logs of network functions, maintenance, and repairs.
- Overseeing IT asset and inventory management.
Requirements To succeed in this role, you should bring a strong technical foundation, problem-solving skills, and the ability to translate complex IT concepts into clear guidance for non-technical users. Requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years as a System Administrator with expertise in LAN/WAN networking and protocols.
- Proven ability to evaluate and optimize systems for reliability and scalability.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for network and system issues.
- Programming proficiency and familiarity with various hardware/software tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-team collaboration.
- Preferred: Relevant certifications (e.g., A+, Network+, Security+, RHCSA, RHCE, CCNA, MS Azure).
- Eligibility for government security clearance.
