Job Summary: The Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This role is responsible for accurate documentation of treatment details, assisting with pre- and post-dialysis assessments, and supporting the safe delivery of dialysis therapy. Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care for assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Document dialysis treatment parameters on Dialysis Flow Sheets accurately.
- Assist licensed nurses with pre- and post-dialysis patient assessments and documentation.
- Monitor patient condition and promptly report significant changes to the supervisor.
- Assist with emergency operational procedures and initiate CPR in the event of cardiac or pulmonary arrest.
- Respond to emergency situations related to dialysis treatment.
Required Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital or related facility preferred, but not required.
- Successful completion of a hemodialysis theory and practice training course.
- Current CPR Certification.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Education in physical sciences or laboratory techniques.
Required Skills:
- Ability to follow clinical instructions and protocols.
- Strong observational and documentation skills.
- Basic life support and emergency response capability.
Preferred Skills:
- Comfortable working in a dialysis care environment.
- Communication skills for patient and team interaction.
Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with dialysis equipment and procedures.
