He and his family are looking to hire two mentors to assist him with working on his goals at home, in his community, and at SUNY Cortland, where the individual will be studying this upcoming fall.Individual's Goals include: •Health and fitness - using the gym •Independent living skills - grocery shopping, personal care tasks, cleaning •Supportive routines for organizational skills - staying on top of deadlines, submitting college assignments on time, prioritizing his tasks, etc. Some of the selected candidate's responsibilities include:•Attend lecture classes (not labs) with the individual to ensure he is aware of upcoming assignments, and that he is paying attention in class (not using phone or computer)•During labs, mentor can sit outside classroom and work on individual's plans, as well as learning/reviewing best practice strategies for working with him•Mentor will support him in seeking a position in his field of study (geology)•Mentor must have college and previous work experience to best understand the organizational challenges the individual is facing•Mentor must be highly organized and skilled in effective test studying strategies, as well as calming skills/techniques•Mentor needs patience and skill in motivating individual to complete assignments, ask for help from professors, and secure support from school resources Seeking a DSP who has college experience and understands the upcoming challenges of a college setting, and is highly organized, structured, detail oriented, enthusiastic, and motivated. Mentor(s) must have a strong and confident personality and a good sense of humor. Interest in or awareness of anime, superheroes, dinosaurs, and/or geology are a plus. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. Please respond with a resume or summary of experience.Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address.Hours and days of work: This position runs from 8/22/2025 through 12/13/2025.Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (8:45 AM - 4:15 PM)Tuesday and Thursday (8:45 AM - 5:15 PM)Weekend hours will be requested as needed for studying for exams. Full-time opportunities may be available. Pay rate: $22 per hour when providing direct support.
