Assistant Professor Of Practice - Educational Technology

The School of Education (SOE) in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Practice, a term faculty position in Educational Technology beginning August 16, 2025. We seek a dynamic, innovative, and enthusiastic colleague who will collaborate with education technology faculty and other SOE colleagues in developing rich and rigorous learning experiences and contribute expertise in educational technology. Building on these strengths, the SOE is committed to increasing its academic excellence of faculty and students. The person selected for this position will have strong knowledge of educational technology and evidence of effective teaching.

Position responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in educational technology, designing and delivering online instruction, possessing familiarity with the Quality Matters framework, and collaborating with educational technology faculty in professional service and outreach activities. Preferred candidates will bring demonstrated expertise in game-based learning, online teaching, and instructional design, as these are key focus areas of teaching for this role. Candidates will have opportunities to serve on Master's and PhD student committees. Initial appointment length is one year. Renewal parameters are determined by performance and department needs. The person will be expected to teach 9-12 credits per semester and support the curriculum and administrative needs of the educational technology curriculum.

Required minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate degree in educational technology, instructional technology, or a closely related field. Preferred qualifications include experience designing and teaching online courses, demonstrated knowledge of the Quality Matters framework for designing and evaluating online courses, teaching experience in P-12 schools, experience working with preservice and/or inservice teachers, and demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following: game-based learning; instructional design, development, and evaluation; technology integration/infusion in classrooms; and artificial intelligence (AI) in Education. Evidence of professional service and outreach in the area of educational technology is also preferred.
