The position supports one or more project managers/principal investigators by assisting with coordinating assigned programs/projects within the Survey and Evaluation Research Unit of the BCSR. Primary project responsibilities are on research and evaluation surveys, where this position is responsible for handling all phases of data collection.Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Conducts onsite survey administration, programs and tests online surveys, phone follow-up on various statewide studies, oversees project mailings, respondent tracking, and advanced database creation and management.
- Assists with the preparation of project reports, memoranda, and other work products.
- Works closely with the part-time staff on all data collection operations related to the projects.
- Trains and provides support to the part-time staff throughout the completion of all tasks.
- Performs professional work that meets high standards of quality.
- This position is grant-funded and contingent upon available funding.

- A bachelor's degree preferably in Psychology, Education, Sociology, Social Work or a related field, plus a minimum of two years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of project coordination, organization, facilitation, report preparation and analysis, writing and outreach.
Certifications/LicensesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates that are bi-lingual (English and Spanish) are preferred.
- Demonstrated attention to detail in prior social science research studies is preferred.
- Experience with online survey programming is highly preferred.
Equipment Utilized
- The person in the position must be proficient using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Access); statistical analysis software (SPSS, SAS, Stata, R, etc.); Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, InDesign); and qualitative data analysis software (NVivo, Dedoose, MaxWDA, etc.).
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Requires organizing and moving boxes of supplies and surveys into allocated storage areas throughout the office on various projects.
- Boxes may weigh up to 40lbs.
- Moving and setting up tables and chairs for group meetings.
