POSITION DETAILS

The Office of Enrollment Management within the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) at The City University of New York (CUNY) Central Office, develops enrollment and retention strategies, fosters strong partnerships, and uses data to inform student success and equity initiatives—advancing the University's mission. Comprised of K-16 Initiatives, Offices of Admission Services, Office of Student Financial Assistance, and Office of the University Registrar, the division supports the full student lifecycle, from outreach and application to enrollment, persistence, and completion.

CUNY is seeking a University Associate Director of Adult Programs, Reconnect and NYSOP to lead the development and implementation of special programs such as Reconnect and the New York State Opportunity Promise (NYSOP), a strategic initiative designed to increase college degree attainment among adult learners aged 25–55, particularly those with some college but no degree. Reporting to the University Director of Strategic Adult Programs and under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, the University Associate Director will serve as the central project manager and implementation lead for adult programs such as Reconnect and NYSOP. This role requires advanced planning, coordination, and collaborative skills, The Associate Director will work closely with the Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost, Enrollment Management leadership, and work collaboratively with key Office of Academic Affairs directors and staff from across the Undergraduate and Graduate Programming Unit, the Student Success area and the Office of the Office of Applied Research, Evaluation, and Data Analytics, as well as the corresponding departments at the seven CUNY community colleges.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview information, other key duties include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Serve as a key member of the Enrollment Management leadership team, contributing to the development and execution of University-wide adult learner strategies.

  • Lead the planning, execution, and scaling of Reconnect and NYSOP initiatives across CUNY campuses.

  • Translate high-level strategic goals into operational plans that produce accessible, effective, and responsive programs for adult learners.

  • Develop and refine strategic initiatives targeting adults with some college credit but no degree, with measurable outcomes for enrollment and completion.

  • Partner closely with the Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost, Enrollment Management leadership, and OAA directors to align programs with University goals.

  • Collaborate with Undergraduate and Graduate Programming Units and the Student Success area to ensure holistic support for adult learners.

  • Partner closely with the Office of Applied Research, Evaluation, and Data Analytics to assess program performance, identify improvement opportunities, and inform data-driven decision-making.

  • Engage with leaders at seven CUNY community colleges to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability of adult learner initiatives.

  • Create and implement innovative programs that enable adult learners to return, persist, and complete their degrees.

  • Ensure programs are equitable, accessible, and responsive to the diverse needs of CUNY's adult student population.

  • Oversee complex, multi-campus projects, managing timelines, budgets, and deliverables.

  • Monitor and analyze enrollment and retention data to evaluate effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.

  • Develop and deliver communications, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

NOTES:

-Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

-This position is contingent on funding to be renewed on an annual basis, with current funding due to end 6/30/26.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM

Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.

PREFERRED

  • Master's degree in higher education administration, public administration, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in large-scale program implementation serving adult learners, nontraditional students, or workforce-aligned initiatives.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and build consensus across diverse internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proficiency with project management tools and student information systems (e.g., CUNYfirst).

  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills to track enrollment, retention, and program impact.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, including experience communicating with executive leadership.

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams and SharePoint.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Manages University-wide academic programs, initiatives or operations, serving as a subject matter expert and campus liaison

  • Manages the centralized activities of campus-based curricular and co-curricular programs

  • Develops operational and administrative plans and implements programmatic policies and goals in partnership with internal and external parties

  • Oversees the establishment and implementation of University-wide program standards, professional development activities and performance assessment systems

  • Evaluates program activities and services and prepares relevant reports

  • May manage and train staff

  • Performs other duties as assigned

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range is $84,011 - $102,485 , commensurate with credentials, education, and experience.

CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% eff ective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
