Located in Brownsville, TXWe are seeking an experienced Backhoe Operator with a strong background in utility installation and a commitment to workplace safety. The operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of backhoes and related heavy equipment to excavate, move, and load materials for underground utility projects.Key Responsibilities:
- Operate backhoe and other heavy equipment to dig trenches, excavate sites, and backfill for utility installations (water, sewer, gas, electrical, or telecommunications).
- Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and utility maps to ensure accurate digging and placement.
- Identify, locate, and protect existing underground utilities before excavation.
- Perform daily equipment inspections, routine maintenance, and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Follow all OSHA, company, and local safety regulations, including trench safety and traffic control protocols.
- Work closely with crew members, foremen, and supervisors to coordinate tasks and maintain productivity.
- Assist in setting utility pipes, conduits, and related infrastructure as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any incidents or hazards.
- Adhere to environmental protection standards and prevent damage to surrounding property.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience operating backhoes, preferably in utility construction.
