\nRespiratory Care students looking to gain hands-on clinical experience in a dynamic, high-acuity hospital, a Magnet-recognized Level 1 trauma and multi-organ transplant center where you'll have the opportunity to learn from top professionals in the field while working in a state-of-the-art environment.
\nAs a Respiratory Care Intern, you will work under the direct supervision of experienced Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs) and clinical leaders, gaining practical experience in administering diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care in a 48-bed level 1 trauma ER, ICUs, and medical and surgical units. You'll develop critical skills while contributing to the care of 40-50 tracheostomy patients and assisting in advanced procedures—including work in one of only four hospitals nationwide that can provide hyperbaric oxygen therapy for pediatric patients.

\nResponsibilities
\n· Administer and monitor respiratory therapies, including oxygen, aerosolized drugs, BiPAP/CPAP, IPPB, and chest physiotherapy.
\n· Perform and document respiratory procedures such as arterial punctures, pulmonary function testing, incentive spirometry, and PEP therapy.
\n· Assist in transporting patients requiring respiratory support and manage respiratory equipment hospital-wide.
\n· Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper documentation in medical systems.
\n· Clean, disinfect, and sterilize respiratory equipment while performing minor repairs and maintenance.
\n· Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway management, and ventilatory support as needed.
\n· Communicate effectively with healthcare teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
\n· Follow hospital and department policies, attend required meetings, and complete all mandatory competencies.
\nConduct clinical research and participate in patient evaluations to determine therapy needs.
\n· Exhibit professionalism, maintain personal cleanliness, and provide excellent service to patients, families, and staff.
