Job Summary: The Ultrasound Technologist performs routine, advanced and biopsy ultrasound procedures. The technologist also maintains the cleanliness and ensures proper operation of the equipment, stocks clinical supplies, performs quality assurance/continuous quality improvement functions and utilizes the department RIS/PACS systems to manage patients images, records and files.

Responsibilities:
\n\n
\n\t- Requires thorough knowledge of the techniques of ultrasound and good knowledge of ultrasound and related equipment.
\n\t- Requires good knowledge of human anatomy.
\n\t- Requires good knowledge of the Radiology Information Systems and PACS to keep accurate patient records.
\n\t- Requires the ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions.
\n\t- Administers imaging tests and treatments as prescribed by clinical providers using protocols to produce acceptable quality radiology images;
\n\t- Positions and instructs patients in preparation for taking Ultrasound images;
\n\t- Makes adjustments to ultrasound equipment to correct settings for each examination.
\n\t- Assists clinical providers with various procedures, treatments, and surgical techniques as directed.
\n\t- Troubleshoots Ultrasound equipment and systems as needed.
\n\t- Tracks and secures supplies according to departmental guidelines;
\n\t- Follows department guidelines to correctly identify patient, and enter patient information into imaging systems;
\n\t- Properly images cases and archives to PACS, also utilizes the Radiology Information Systems to keep accurate patient records;
\n\t- Ability to write preliminary reports after scanning, completing worksheets in a neat, legible and specific format.
\n\t- Assures that the working environment is clean and in compliance with regulatory agencies.
\n\t- Assists in orientation and training of new staff as requested and serves as a resource person and professional role model.
\n\t- Performs other functions as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:
\n\n
Experience: One-year experience as a Radiologic Technologist, preferred.
\n\n
Education: Graduate of an approved Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs School of Ultrasound is required.
\n\n
Licenses / Certifications: Licensed by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).

Special Requirements: Must maintain the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Ultrasound Technologist.
