Postal Assistants work between 20 and 40 hours per week during the academic year to supplement and support the work performed by our full-time staff. Postal Assistants process incoming mail and packages then distribute them to specified locations, help us meet our schedules for the collection and return of mail, sort mail for delivery and arrange it in the correct delivery sequence, and answer customer questions about university mail services. Postal Assistants also perform other duties as requested; take initiative to support a healthy work environment; strive to fulfill the terms in the Standards of Business Conduct; exemplify the Virginia Tech Principles of Community; and support the universitys motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve). Standard work shifts with a variety start times are available depending on the work assignment. The tasks performed may change daily, depending on the volume of mail that day or team member absences.
