Role Overview:
As a Guest Service Volunteer your primary role is to guide patients and visitors throughout the hospital. You'll help individuals navigate to specific departments, answer questions about hospital services, and assist with any needs that may arise during their visit. You will be a key resource in ensuring patients have a smooth and positive experience while assisting in the hospital. This position also requires standing for extended period at the main entrance of the facility.

Shifts available Monday - Friday and are as follows: 9AM - 12 PM. Please indicate all shifts you are available for in your application.
Volunteer Responsibilities :
Greeting and Welcoming : Provide a warm and friendly greeting to all visitors and patients entering the hospital, creating a positive first impression.
Direction and Wayfinding : Accompany patients and visitors to specific areas, such as departments or waiting rooms, ensuring they reach their destinations with ease.
Information and Support : Answer general inquiries about the hospital's layout, services, procedures, and visitor policies.
Communication : Act as a liaison between patients, their families, and hospital staff, ensuring clear and effective communication throughout the visit.
Wheelchair Assistance : Assist with transporting patients in wheelchairs if needed, ensuring comfort and safety during their visit.
Data Tracking : Help with the tracking of patient packages by noting and submitting delivery times to the nursing stations.
Flower Deliveries: Support the delivery of flowers to the information desk and bring them up to patient rooms.
Information Desk Phone: Answer phone calls from visitors and insurance companies verifying if patients are onsite.
Magazine Distribution: Round the first floor and set up magazines for patients and visitors to read.
Qualifications:
Must be 16 years old or older.
Willing to commit to a weekly 3-hour shift for a minimum of 6 months . Volunteers are expected to be dependable in attending their scheduled shifts.
If a former or current MSK patient, must be out of active treatment for at least one year.
Onboarding Requirements: takes 4 - 6 weeks on average
If selected, complete a virtual interview. The selection process is based on scheduling needs and applicant qualifications.
Reference check: 2-3 references
Background check & drug screen (*18 years and older)
Medical Clearance: COVID-19, flu and other immunizations are mandatory for volunteers, no exceptions. Medical Clearance is at the expense of the applicant.
If a candidate fails to follow up or complete the above requirements after 30 days, the application may be rejected.
Please note that the Volunteer Department does not oversee internships, educational programs, or shadowing opportunities. Our program provides long-term opportunities supporting patients and staff.
