Job Description :

Our client, a leader in the electrical utilities sector, is seeking an Outreach Specialist Associate to join their team. As an Outreach Specialist Associate, you will be part of the Project Outreach department supporting community engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and a flair for public relations which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Outreach Specialist Associate

Location: Roanoke, VA (Onsite)

Pay Range: $29-33/hr.

Work Hours: M-F, 40 hrs./wk. with occasional OT

Travel: 20% travel across the region (Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky)

Travel Breakdown & Frequency: WV (50%), VA (40%), KY (10%); Overnight travel averages once every two months (1-2 nights)

What's the Job?

  • Develop public education and information materials, presentations, and web content to support outreach efforts.

  • Assist in planning and implementing public events, meetings, and open house information sessions.

  • Organize and participate in community outreach activities to educate audiences about outreach and transmission activities.

  • Respond to public and community inquiries about transmission projects.

  • Contribute to the maintenance of team databases and collaborate effectively with project managers and engineers.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.

  • 0-2 years of experience in an entry-level position, preferably within a utilities-related agency.

  • Strong writing and oral presentation skills, with experience in facilitating public meetings.

  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Valid driver's license is required.
