Work is performed on the journeyman level in accordance with standard machine shop practices. General assignments are received from a foreman, but this position also works with considerable independence in the selection of methods, procedures, and materials and is guided only by plans and specifications or the actual parts to be duplicated. Work is reviewed upon completion for serviceability and for conformance to specifications through trial runs or actual use. This employee functions as an original manufacturer, repair of existing parts and/or modification of existing parts and equipment.
