Position Summary

The EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations. This role plays a critical part in developing, implementing, and improving EHS programs, policies, and procedures to promote a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. The position serves as a resource and leader in promoting a proactive EHS culture and driving continuous improvement in safety systems and compliance initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Promote a proactive EHS culture through education, facilitation, and support.
  • Develop and maintain EHS programs and policies to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions using knowledge of industrial processes, mechanical systems, and safety standards.
  • Serve as liaison to regulatory agencies, corporate EHS, and insurance representatives.
  • Manage all environmental and OSHA-related reporting and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Lead investigations into environmental and safety non-compliance incidents, including root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Support general health and safety tasks to ensure ongoing compliance and workload balance.
  • Mentor and coach personnel on EHS procedures, including regulatory and company-specific training.
  • Conduct routine EHS inspections and audits, documenting findings and leading corrective actions.
  • Drive closure of corrective actions resulting from audits and incident investigations.
  • Lead or participate in EHS improvement initiatives and cross-functional teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of Environmental, Health, and Safety experience
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and applicable state regulations
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and quick to learn
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • ASP and/or CSP certification(s)
