Detailed Description:
The Department of Communication at the University of San Diego is seeking a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of assistant professor with expertise and interest in organizational communication. Applicants should have a strong background in communication theory and the foundations of the discipline.
The Department of Communication welcomes application materials from teacher-scholars who take engaged teaching and research seriously, and the investigation of communication as essential to understanding the human experience. Our faculty members represent the breadth of the discipline. Qualified candidates should take a student-centered approach to undergraduate teaching, and have a strong commitment to the liberal arts. Our teacher-scholar model includes a 3-3 teaching load. Candidates will teach lower-division introductory communication courses, upper-division courses in organizational communication, and courses developed within their own area of research expertise. The ability to teach courses in our department's new public relations minor is added value, but not required.

Job Requirements:
Qualified candidates will hold a PhD in communication or related fields. ABD candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Qualified candidates should also have university-level teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. Candidates are expected to build and maintain a research agenda, participate in university service, and advise undergraduate students.
