The Plant Manager for our Switching and Fusing Operation in Leeds, AL will provide leadership and is responsible for all aspects of the plant operation, including personnel, productivity, on-time delivery performance, cost, budgeting/forecasting, and asset management. The role involves managing and developing a team in a fast-paced environment with a focus on process improvements in Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Inventory management, utilizing business practices such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma. The Plant Manager will deploy company and factory policies and strategies, translating them into business, team, and personnel goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop staff and foster a culture dedicated to safety, quality, and customer service through a collaborative team environment.
  • Manage and direct overall manufacturing activities of the Business Unit.
  • Maintain a safe working environment compliant with all local, state, and OSHA requirements.
  • Measure and improve key performance indicators (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Cost).
  • Ensure the establishment and maintenance of quality systems.
  • Enhance the LEAN culture by maintaining a clean, well-organized production environment through continuous improvement and 5S activities, eliminating waste.
  • Develop budgets and forecasts, approve expenditures, and ensure efficient use of materials, labor, and equipment to meet productivity and customer requirements.
  • Ensure production capacities meet short- and long-term needs.
  • Establish work requirements and ensure production schedules are met.
  • Provide leadership and direction for a highly MTO/ETO production facility utilizing SAP.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as a Plant Manager, Director of Operations, or Operations Manager, preferably in a medium to heavy manufacturing environment with low volume/high mix production.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving, materials planning, communication, and training skills.
  • Results-oriented, metric-driven, disciplined leadership style.
  • Staff development and engagement skills.
  • Experience in Welding, Fabricating, Warehouse & Logistics.
  • Proficiency with SAP.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Operational Excellence or Lean Certification.
  • TPM experience.
